Almost 85% of the world’s total population is suffering from diabetes that is why many researchers are finding ways to cure diabetes but the question still arise as to how diabetes can be cured and is there really a cure for diabetes?
Despite further research has been made, they have not yet come up with a cure for diabetes. These means that there have been no cure for diabetes as of yet. Although, there may be treatments available that are more advanced nowadays. Since, no research has been made as of yet for the cure of diabetes it is much better to think of ways to treat and manage it in such a way that it does not lead to serious complications in the future. Before diabetes can be cured or somewhat treated, one must be aware of it cause as well.
Type 1 Diabetes Cure
For type 1 diabetes mellitus or IDDM, the only known cure as claimed by researchers is through pancreas transplant. Almost all surgeries pose a risk to the patient’s health. This means that after the transplant, a maintenance drugs will be given to the patient to prevent organ rejection. The type of drugs used is those that suppressed our immune system. With a suppressed immune system, we are more prone to acquire certain diseases because we no longer have the protection of our body. That is why the cure for diabetes isn’t always pancreas transplant but it sometimes can be used as a last resort.
The injection of insulin is a treatment for treating type 1 diabetes, although it is not really the way to cure it. The injection does not necessary cure the condition but just a way to treat the disease to prevent unwanted consequences thus increases the person’s lifespan.
Type 2 Diabetes Cure
The possible cure for type 2 diabetes or NIDDM is by simply changing his/her activities of daily living. Alternative ways must be done to manage type 2 diabetes and these are doing activities such as exercising and proper diet control helps in treating for diabetes but as mentioned earlier, there have not been any proven method to cure diabetes. Exercise does not only lower your blood sugar but it also lowers your risk for developing a heart disease that usually occurs when people have diabetes. Also, when doing exercise, one must also keep track of his/her blood sugar level to prevent hypoglycemia. Diet is by eating only the foods that is suitable for his body, and refused to eat those that are not suited.
Some also thought that diabetes can also do yoga but this method does not really cure the condition. It just helps increase the insulin production of the pancreas thus reducing the amount of sugar in the blood.
Just a word of caution for all diabetic patients that since there are still no known cure but only treatments for diabetes, they must still continue with their regimens on diabetic care exactly as how their physician told them to do so and these are methods to control hyperglycemia such as change in diet, exercise, oral diabetic agents and insulin injection.
