Healthy daily menu for a Diabetic

Healthy daily menu for a DiabeticHaving a proper and planned diet for a diabetic person will decrease the level of high blood pressure, strokes and disease of the heart. Many people tend to think that by stopping sweets will help to overcome diabetes, which is not true. Breakfast is very necessary as it helps to charge your body after a good night’s sleep and skipping that is a big NO for diabetics. The menu should not necessarily be colorless, dull and with restrictions but it should be healthy for the whole family. You cannot cook different food for the diabetic and the rest of the family members. One should have a balanced diet whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Breakfast menu: As already mentioned, not having breakfast isn’t good for the health. You can start your day with egg-whites or a burrito. Have a bowl of cereals if you are at home but make sure there is not any sugary stuff. Mushroom, onions, spinach and bells peppers can be good veggies for your diet. Toasted whole wheat or tortillas is also a good option.

Lunch menu:
Don’t go for restaurant foods for lunch as they will give you calories and fats. Burgers are good but not the fries but can be substituted by vegetable which are steamed. To lower the level of sugar, you can eat salad. Boiled broccoli or a sandwich with turkey in it is eatable for diabetics. Apple is good for those who love dessert after their food.

Dinner menu: Baking food is a choice for diabetics. Whole grained rice or brown rice with fish, which is a good source of food because of the proteins they provide to the body. Smashed sweet potatoes, salmon fish or some kind of lean fishes like tuna, zucchini in olive oil, chicken breast, baked beans and salads with Italian dressing are ideal food for your dinner.

Low calorie yogurt, light margarines are good as they are low on fats. Foods which are high in calories and with starch should be avoided for the health. Snacks will help to keep level of sugar balanced in the body during intervals of the meals but make sure they are low in sugar.
