How to prevent and treat nosebleeds in children and kids

Among all age groups of people, children are more prone to bleeding of nose (Epistaxis). And this article will explain you how to stop, prevent, treat and manage nosebleeds in children and kids.

The common causes for nosebleeds (Epistaxis) in children are -
Nose picking, nose blowing, allergy or cold, heated and dry indoor air which makes inner side of the nose crusted, cracked and itch.

Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Make the bleeding child to sit down, take a face cloth or handkerchief and hold their nostrils. If you feel that child is old enough them try to teach them where and how to hold their nose in this situation.

  2. Step 2

    Next you must pinch the soft lower part of the nose between forefinger and your thumb. Calm down and assure them and tell them that nothing is going to happen.nose bleeds children kids health blood

  3. Step 3

    Make sure that there is a steady pressure and firm grip on the nose. And continue holding the nose for about 10 minutes and look at the watch and proceed to next step.

  4. Step 4

    Make the head to lean forward rather leaning backwards which will allow blood to run down the throat.

  5. Step 5

    If you find that bleeding continued after waiting for 10 min then continue the same procedure. if the bleeding continued even after 3- 4 attempts take the child to the doctor.

  6. Step 6

    The child must be told not to pick, blow or rub his/her nose for about 2-3 days. Also tell them not to involve in rough games or activities since there is a chance of bleeding again.

Note: When there is a nosebleed never lay down, rather stand up or sit down
