Make a New Year resolution to keep your pet in the best health. Here is how you can keep your pet in the best of health. Here are the three New Year resolutions you should keep for your pet’s health:
1. I will not feed my pet extra calories: A cat needs to consume 200 calories a day while a large dog should consume 800 calories. Do not feed the pet food with high fat content which an led to health issues like vomiting, diarrhea and indigestion. So when you have your meal, make sure you keep your pet in another room.
2. Say No and Give her a treat when she obeys: Make your dog sit quietly before you give him food. If the dog behaves well, pat its head gently as a thank you gesture. Also, if your car constantly tears at the furniture, be firm and say ‘no’. Additionally give it a cat-nip laced scratching post as a substitute. Remember whenever the pet behaves well, pat its back and give it a small treat. The pet will recognize these cues and act according to your wishes.
3. I will take my pet for check-up annually: Did you know that dental disease that your pet may contracts can lead to deadly organ deterioration? A simple check up and routine testing of blood can prevent many fatal incidents for your pet. Take your pet for an oral checkup twice a year and an all-round health check once a year at least. It is better to do regular checkups for your pet rather than pay for expensive medicine and vet consultation charges during emergencies. Common health problems for pets are canine ehrlichiosis(tick borne) disease and kidney failure. Thing like oedema problems, weight loss, low urine output etc can be avoided from regular checkups.
