The percentage of infertility is increasing considerably. There are many reasons behind this problem. Firstly, men and women are seen to marry late i.e. they settle when they are around 30-35 years of age. At this age the ovulation is very low in females and many times she may conceive a child but the ovule could not keep the child for a long time.
Infertility can be in both Males and Females. There are several causes for it which includes:
Reasons For infertility in men-
- Lifestyle like eating and living habits. These habits lead to lower sperm count. For Example wearing a tight pant, smoking etc.
- Taking drugs which are illegal.
- Illnesses like cancer or something serious and hereditary diseases like diabetes.
Reasons For infertility in women-
- Age i.e. late thirties
- Less ovulation
- Smoking and excessive drinking damages the ovulation
- diseases
- Contraceptive which may not suite a woman. Many times a contraceptive is taken without doctor’s direction and that may not be compatible for her body and may result into infertility like taking a tablet.
The infertility of one person also leads to in conceiving a baby. Nowadays, infertility can be treated by a gynecologist. But it is always preferable one takes precaution and tries to avoid infertility and medicines prescribed by gynecologist. Many times a woman may conceive a child but later miscarriage do take place several times which can result in infertility. This occurs because of weak womb.
When a couple consults a doctor in such a case, following steps generally occur-
- Doctor takes physical exam of both partners
- He may ask about the sexual histories.
- Then separately doctor take semen test for male.
- To check women ovulation, ultrasound or ovulation test kits of ovaries are the methods to track if ovulation is normal.
- Common tests include Hysterosalpingography and Laparoscopy.
In many countries due to late marriages woman prefer to take up a pregnancy after 35 years or 40 plus. For a woman after 30 years, chances of drop cases increase to a large extent but surgeries or drugs are the common treatments available for infertility and doctors should also be consulted in six months after sexual tries.
