It’s certain that there are side effects associated with the use of contraceptive pills. However, with a good endurance of the tablets all the side effects disappear within three months. But you may need to change the drug depending on the side effects you experience. 
All adverse symptoms are divided into two groups:
(i) Side effects are associated with drug administration and dominated by estrogen. In the first place, there’s the indication of a false pregnancy. This includes nausea, vomiting, bloating, headaches, edema, vaginal discharge, irritability, increased sensitivity of the mammary glands. (ii) The second group of symptoms is associated with drugs dominated by progestin. They include depression, decreased libido (sex drive), reducing the number of vaginal lubrication, acne and weight gain.
Other common side effects of using contraceptive pills which fall in group one are as follows:
- Severe headache
- Sudden loss of hearing and vision
- Pain in the legs; swelling of the legs
- Feelings of pain or tightness in chest
- Sharp pain when breathing, violent coughing of uncertain origin
- Imposition of gypsum on the lower body and legs
- Jaundice
- Severe itching and profuse rash
- Epileptic seizure
Take care of the fact that contraceptive pills should not be taken during smoking, alcohol consumption and tranquilizer consumption.
The group two symptoms include the following symptoms:
- Depression
- Disorders of Gastrointestinal tract like nausea and vomiting
- Changes in vaginal secretion
- Various skin reactions like chloasma
- Fluid retention, weight change, poor tolerance for contact lenses, allergic reactions, and changes in libido
It is advisable that contraceptive pills are not taken by women above 35 years who are habitual of smoking; women who have a high blood pressure, high cholesterol or a family history of heart disease. The contraceptive pills may also harm women with a history of breast, uterus or liver cancer; therefore consult your gynecologist before taking any kind of contraceptive pills in these conditions.
