- Individuals suffering from hypothyroidism should stop alcoholism or smoking. Also soybeans, peanuts, spinach and broccoli is seen to decrease thyroid’s capabilities, therefore their consumption should be also stopped.
- Thyroid can function properly if it is given ample amount of vitamin D. Therefore a person suffering from thyroid disease should get enough sunlight exposure. Vitamin D supplements can also be consumed. If the patient is taking any medication which contains lithium, then its usage should be stopped immediately. Although, the physician can be consulted before stopping it.
