The high fever is not a good thing and is can be declared as a medical emergency.  The patient needs immediate medical attention. In most cases, the high fever is a hidden symptom of a serious sickness or it may leads to a serious condition.

There are many reasons when the temperature may reach so high. The most common cause is infection or intracranial hemorrhage. Among the other possible reasons, the Kawasaki syndrome, drug effect, sepsis, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, thyroid storm and serotonin syndrome has more chance.

For a steady high temperature, infection has more likelihood but if the temperature continues to increase, the other possibilities raise. The most common infections that cause high fever are rubeola, enteroviral and roseola in infections. If the high fever occurs for infection, the most common diseases are strep throat, flu, pneumonia or pox. There might be tissue injuries, tumors, silicosis etc. too.

One of the most common symptoms and signs of high fever is the fever. The patient might have chill or shiver. At a very serious stage of high fever, the patient might have seizures.

Treatment and management for high fever :

In case of high fever the immediate reaction should be trying to decrease the temperature. Aggressive cooling the body might improve the situation a lot. The temperature should be less than 102.0 °F or 38.9 °C at least. In hyperpyrexia the regulation mechanism sets the temperature of the body above the normal condition and then produces heat to achieve the temperature. The findings of the other serious causes are done after the temperature comes down to a more accepted range.
