Side effects of antibiotics in women
There are some negative side effects of antibiotics, especially in case of consumption by women. After the antibiotics are ingested, a number of bacteria which crop up naturally are destroyed. This permits other germs to nurture which would not have happened otherwise. Thus a yeast infection takes place because the naturally inhabited bacteria are no longer present. These infections are known as ‘opportunistic infections’.
Side effects of antibiotics in children
Adverse effects of antibiotics in children are not countless but if there is a misuse, they can be quite harmful. The most frequent misuse is done for kids with ear infections. They are given antibiotics which kill the bacteria, but unfortunately they also exterminate affable bacteria called the flora which inhabits the child’s intestines. When they are eliminated, there is repeated passing of loose motion. It has also been noticed that kids who intake a lot of antibiotics in their initial six months, are more prone to allergies later.

Side effects of some common antibiotics
Disorders of the digestive system in the form of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation occur when there’s the drugs are used in excess. The use of these drugs is mostly connected with irritation of the mucous membrane of the digestive tract. Typically, nausea, vomiting or abdominal discomfort occurs immediately after taking the antibiotic and pass as drug absorption in the intestine. Removal of nausea or vomiting, can be achieved by converting the tablets to injections, or have antibiotics after meals (food protects the mucous membranes of the digestive tract by direct contact with antibiotics).
Allergic reactions can occur due to antibiotics, since they are a foreign substance to our body. Allergy to antibiotics is one of the types of drug allergy. In some cases drug allergy can have a severe effect and endanger the patient’s health. Such forms of allergy are anaphylactic shock (generalized allergic reaction), Stephen Jones syndrome (necrosis of the upper layers of the skin), and hemolytic anemia.
The greatest risk is found to be of the liver and kidney. It’s observed while using large doses of antibiotics in patients with pre-existing diseases of these organs like – pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis and hepatitis.
