How to treat Ringworm

Ringworm is an annoying skin disease which causes blister or rashes on the skin which are itchy and painful. It is know popularly called “tinea” ringwormand occurs because of the fugus and is not cause by any worm as the name ‘ringworm’ may suggest. These funguses inhibit our skin and cause infection.

Treat Ringworm with creams & lotions:

  • First and foremost as soon as you notice the symptom at the initial stage itself start the treatment process. If treatment starts earlier the better it is.
  • Ring worm can be treated by different creams and lotions. There are several effective antifungal lotions and creams that you can get over-the-counter. Some of the best one’s are Micatin, Tinactin or Lotriminutes
  • You must continue to use these medicines regularly for at least one week, if the symptoms persists consult a doctor for further medication and treatment
  • As the healing process is on take some protective measures for your skin. Wear light weight clothes and avoid any kind of contact on the infected part of the skin. You may also cover it with a protective bandage.

Some of the natural cures for Ringworm are:

  • Include supplements for multivitamins in your diet along with supplements which are rich in gamma-linolenic-acid
  • Papaya is a good natural remedy for soothing the infected skin. Make a paste of papaya mixed with ground mustard seeds;
  • Herbs like tea tree oil and lavender may also be used for increasing the immune system which helps in treating the infection faster. For a better immune system one should also include dark skinned fruits, leafy vegetables, protein and grains in one’s diet.

Preventive measure:

  • Avoid exposure to extreme to heat or cold and refrain yourself from swimming in public pools.
  • Maintain proper hygiene and do not share your personal items such as clothes, towel, toiletries, bedding, combs etc.
