Excellent post
.Diabetes is a deadly disease and it needs a lot of awareness.Your post will help people to understand it better. Keep potsing.
I am a type 2 diabetic. I control my diabetes with diet and exercise only. I check my blood glucose levels depending on the type of day I have and I eat based on the type of day I have as well.
I work a night shift (in a labor job) and the days that I work I end up eating 5-7 large meals because I am very active (probably the equivalent of walking 10 miles or more plus all of the extra labor I do).
On my days off I eat about 3-4 normal meals. I play a game called Dance Dance Revolution for about 2-3 hours on these days as well.
I don’t use any form of medication and I am a vegan. I noticed that proteins from meats when I was not a vegan, eggs when I was a vegetarian and the better all around plant based proteins significantly reduced my blood glucose levels when they were higher when coupled with carbohydrate and starch sources. The problem with protein from meat sources is the high fat content and salt that may be used to prepare them unless you simply stew a very lean meat with the natural flavors of spices.
I never check my feet or shoes on a regular basis, they are extremely sensitive so I know if there is ever a problem. I have great blood circulation and I think that is why. I have never had alcohol or smoked in my life so I am glad I don’t have those vices on my life.
I have been in the hospital twice for acute pancreatitis which was causes by stress and the only symptoms that I felt were slight nausea and abdominal cramps. The first time I slipped into diabetic coma because I thought it was simply something I ate and it would go away in a few hours to awake 4 days later in the hospital (with a 17 day stay). The second time I caught it in time, was medicated and released only 2 days later.
You really need to watch yourself if you are diabetic, borderline diabetic or even have a history of type 1 diabetes in your family. Type 2 can strike anyone at any time from something as simple as drinking too much or eating a heavy fatty meal.
You have done an excellent job. Congrtulations! Creating awareness is the best service one can do. Hope you will publish more such posts.
